Linstrum + Matre Artworks Announces Grand Opening Exhibition and Reception, Friday, September 12, 7-9pm

Linstrum + Matre Artworks Merger a First in Atlanta

In an unprecedented, cutting edge move in the region’s fine arts industry, Aliya Linstrum Gallery and Matre Gallery join forces and launch Linstrum + Matre Artworks. Please join us for the Grand Opening exhibition, Re • Visions, and a reception on Friday, September 12, 7pm–9pm, in the space at 65 Bennett Street, Atlanta, GA, 30309. Carl Linstrum (Aliya Linstrum Gallery) and Rob Matre (Matre Gallery) merge their former galleries, combining decades of experience and sturdy rosters of artists.

These two celebrated owners and artists, after several years of individual success, partner in the new venture, Linstrum + Matre Artworks. The union of these two highly successful entities is a first in the region. Together, Matre and Linstrum represent nearly thirty years of gallery ownership in Atlanta and the merger brings together over thirty-five artists represented by the owners, including acclaimed artist Steve Penley.

“We both felt that the next step in our careers and businesses would be a significant one, and after many months of discussions it became clear that the merging of our two galleries was the perfect idea”, explains Linstrum. “We are excited about coming together to leverage our experiences, our successes and our contacts to grow Linstrum + Matre Artworks together.”

Linstrum + Matre Artworks’ long-range plan includes innovative programming and an expansion on the gallery model to include education, services, and inventory for the new collector as well as the seasoned one.

“Carl and I have worked together for several years and have a great deal of trust in each others’ capabilities, strengths and relationships in the field,” Matre says. “We are thrilled about the fusion of clients, artists and business practices.”

Linstrum + Matre Artworks opened in July at 65 Bennett Street and all are welcomed at the reception and Grand Opening exhibition on Friday, September 12. The opening exhibit features new works from three artists; one from the Aliya Linstrum roster (Duy Huynh), one from the Matre roster (Jonathan Fenske), and one who is newly represented by Linstrum + Matre Artworks (Cara Ober).

Fall brings the release of Steve Penley’s book, The Reconstruction of America, featuring Penley's iconic images that celebrate America. Penley is also collaborating with Vince Dooley, the legendary former University of Georgia football coach, on a book that chronicles the history of Georgia football.

Linstrum + Matre Artworks will be hosting book signings and exhibitions for both books upon their releases in Fall 2008.
